Niacin detox theory works on the principle that niacin, or vitamin B3, has the ability to dilate the blood vessels. The benefits of this niacin detox are not limited to improved blood flow through the capillaries. One of the most significant effects is on cholesterol levels. The damaging cholesterol, LDL, is dramatically reduced by niacin treatments. Risk of heart attacks and strokes is dramatically reduced, making niacin a good vitamin to include in your diet even when you are not using it as part of a detox. Heart disease is a serious killer and needs to be respected. Niacin forms a valuable part of a heart friendly diet plan.
It is important to remember that when you follow your niacin detox program you are releasing toxins into the bloodstream. This is positive, in that they needed to be released to be able to flow out of the body, but it need to be pointed out that the job is not yet done. At the same time as you are using niacin, you need to be taking in a lot of water, possibly through fruit juices and water rich food. A juice fast is ideal, because the faster you can flush the toxins out of your system, the faster you can feel the benefits of your niacin detox.
