How To Detox And Cleanse Your Body Effectively And Safely
To give yourself the chance of optimum health, you should detox and cleanse your body regularly. This is the message that is delivered by the media and countless books that have been written to exploit this message. There is plenty of information to be found, but a lot of it is not consistent, and leads to confusion amongst many who are interested in improving their health. The problem is that the goals of the mass media and the publishing industry are often contradictory.
There are a great many authors and publishers who genuinely want to help the book buying public to achieve a better and more healthy lifestyle. There are genuine people within the media also, but they are working under constant pressure to sell newspapers, and have to give the public what they are demanding. The problem here is that the public are demanding something which is fundamentally unrealistic. Fueled by modern society's penchant for quick and easy solutions, they are looking to detox and cleanse in order to solve long term health issues using seven and ten day plans. The whole process is doomed to failure.
That is not to say it is not possible to detox and cleanse the body, or to attain good bodily health. The important thing is to see the two issues in context, and to give the priority to the establishment of good health, in whatever timescale is practical for any given individual. There is never going to be any one size which fits all when you are dealing with the human body. Many healthy people could go on a three day juice fast and derive great benefit from it, but there are others who would suffer greatly and need to cut it short.
If anything, the “cleanse” needs to be put before the “detox”, because extreme methods will only work in those who have developed the health and the constitution to stand them. Those in a more fragile state of health, including the overweight, need to concentrate on building up their liver and eliminatory system before they move on to greater ambitions. The one thing everyone needs to do is reduce the level of extreme toxins coming in to the body, which means cutting out tobacco, alcohol, and caffeine, and greatly reducing saturated fat and sugar.
If you have a long way to go to achieve the detox and cleanse you want, just start steadily. Whatever you feel comfortable with, take on board. It is much better to make steady progress and keep going, than it is to attempt too much too soon and stall. If you can only cut your habitual excesses down gradually, then do that. A gentle juice fast of one day every now and then will also help to stimulate your liver. The momentum will build up, and soon you will feel able to put more into your long term detox and cleanse.
